Originally a British company, which in the early 2000-ies was licensed on the structure of thin-film transistors from Lucent Technologies (in the original Bell Labs). More precisely, the original license in 2000 was the then transferred to the U.S. company E Ink and later forwarded to the company Plastic Logic.

It was assumed that Plastic Logic will begin production on flexible plastic substrates for OTFT-panels (TF organic transistors) for the company E Ink. To do this, the company started to build a plant in Dresden, which attracted $100 million investment. But at a certain point was that the company’s technology in mass production does not work — very high level of marriage. By 2010, it became clear that the company Plastic Logic is about to shut down, but then came RUSNANO.

With significant investment in dubious partner Plastic Logic is not drowned and was able to hold out for almost three years! Then the project was closed and remembered about it only in 2016 with the idea to restructure the debts and to connect to this bottomless pit of Chinese. But then the message of intent is not gone, until recently Plastic Logic showed up in the form of the German division of Plastic Logic Germany. Judging by the content of the site, Plastic Logic Germany considers itself the successor to the British company, but the media starts its life with a clean slate — on the website only two press releases for the current year. Anyway, the plant in Dresden was built and he might be ready to produce flexible screens for E Ink.

Of intention to resume working with Plastic Logic said the company E Ink Holdings. In a press release the company reported that the previous agreement was revised and signed a new supply agreement. In Plastic Logic and E Ink Holdings expects to raise the cooperation to a new level, promising light, reliable and energy efficient screens for wearable electronics in the form of clocks, jewelry, monitors health status and other devices, the names of whom have not even been invented.
