Antenociticus Statue Head from Benwell Roman Temple, The Great North Museum, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 24.3.18.

This stunning Roman statue head is of the icon, Androciticus and was excavated at the site of the Benwell Roman Temple near Hadrian’s Wall and Vallum. The god was either local deity or one worshipped by troops from the Rhine Valley in Germany who were posted at Benwell Roman Fort.
