Ratnagiri Odisha is the site of a once major ancient Buddhist monastery in India.
Excavated between 1958 and 1961, the impressive remains of the structure and its sculptures helped confirm that the site was a key center of Buddhism in India. Built in the 5th century, possibly during the reign of King Narasimha Baladitva, the monastery was forgotten or abandoned sometime during the 13th century.
