Le 17 novembre, Ariane 5 a parfaitement réussi sa mission après son lancement depuis le Centre Spatial Guyanais, port spatial de l’Europe, en mettant en orbite les 15ème, 16ème, 17ème et 18ème satellites de la constellation Galileo, le programme européen de navigation par satellite. A terme, Galileo assurera une précision et une fiabilité bien supérieures à celles de tous les autres systèmes de navigation par satellite. Le lanceur européen signait ainsi son 75ème succès d’affilée depuis 2003.
