Birdoswald Roman Fort, Hadrian’s Wall, Northumbria, 14.4.18.
Birdoswald is one of the few places where archaeology has given us some idea about how Roman architecture and settlements were used post-occupation. In the early Medieval period, the fort was used as a feudal hall and outbuildings served farming purposes before their gradual collapse.
