Castlelaw Iron Age Hill Fort, West Lothian, Scotland, 8.4.18.
Castlelaw Iron Age Hillfort is a good example of the wooden defensive fortifications that were emerging around 800 BCE onwards. This one was constructed around the 1st century BCE and remained through the Roman occupation period. All that is visible to the eye now is a large earthen platform, with trenches and embankments and shallow pits where roundhouses were constructed. The view from the hill fort is advantageous and stunning.
