In the depths of the Peruvian Amazon, there exists an enormous face carved into stone cliffs—it’s one of many ancient sacred sites to the indigenous Harakbut people. This short documentary, The Reunion, follows a group of Harakbut as they explore their past. They hope that discovery of these ancient monuments could help prevent the exploration for gold and petroleum that are encroaching upon their territories.
