An example of a Roman Updraft Kiln used to practically explore the process of creating Roman pottery that was used in the region, such as Black Burnished Ware, Cray Ware cookery pots, indented bakers, plates, bowls and flagons. All this would have been coarse ware; fine ware such as Samian Ware, Terra Sigillata and amphorae would have been created elsewhere across the empire.
