This is the latest find to be revealed at Pompeii during recent excavations on the slopes of Regio V that overlook the Via del Vesuvio.
The figure of Priapus, well known in Pompeii from the painting at the entrance to the House of the Vettii, now emerges for the second time in this domus, 120 years after its first discovery.

This god of Graeco-Roman mythology, was according to most sources, the son of Aphrodite and Dionysus.
A wall with a woman’s face framed by a wreath known as a clipeus portrait and a bedroom (cubicle) decorated with a very refined upper frame and two small squares, one with a marine landscape, the other with wildlife, also came to light in the domus along the Via del Vesuvio.
The upper part of a fountain/nymphaeum covered with glass tesserae and shells, which form complex decorative motifs was also found.
