The Balmaclellan Mirror Hoard, Whithorn Museum and Priory, Whithorn, Dumfries and Galloway, 9.9.18.
An Iron Age mirror from between 1st century BCE to 1st century CE from the area of Kirkcudbright. This ornate piece was discovered with mounts and metalwork. The mirror exhibits both Celtic and Roman influenced design. Made from bronze, this item was buried and wrapped in cloth, considered by many to be an ancient instrument of prophecy and divination.
