3000-year-old petroglyphs found in north-western Saudi Arabia

The General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage in the region of Ha'il in north-western Saudi Arabia announced the discovery of an archaeological site dating back to the first millennium BC.

The archaeological site is located in Muzhir al-Faja, some 200 km west of the city of Ha'il, northwest of the province of Shamali.

According to Saad Al-Ruwaisan, head of the Department of National Heritage Preservation in Ha'il, "the archaeological site is located in a mountainous area and contains a large number of petroglyphs of various animals, including horses and camels, as well as human figures and Thamudi inscriptions."

"Stylistically the petroglyphs are similar to those found at the Al-Dabbiya site in Abu Dhabi," he added.
