IDC: the market size of wearable devices in 2017 will exceed 120 million units

Company International Data Corporation (IDC) released a forecast on the global Wearables market in the current and subsequent years.

Last year, estimated that on a global scale have been implemented 104.4 million wearable gadgets. It is important to note that these figures take into account not only the delivery of smart watches and fitness bracelets, and various devices mounted on the clothes, and ear products.

This year, according to forecasts, the total shipments of wearable devices reached 121,7 million units. This would correspond to growth of 16.6% compared to last year.

Delivery of “smart” hours, according to analysts IDC, in the current year will amount to 67.4 million pieces. This would correspond to the proportion at 55.4 % of the total volume of the market of wearable electronics.

Another 47.6 million units will be the fitness bracelets. These devices will take approximately 39.1% of the total weight of supplies. Thus, all the other gadgets have only 5.5 % of the market.

IDC also notes that by 2021, the global market for wearable devices will reach of 229.5 million units. The average annual growth rate in compound interest for the period from 2017 to 2021 will amount to 17.2 %.
