Calcite in a Sea Urchin Fossil | #Geology #GeologyPage #Fossil
Locality: Calais, Nord Pas de Calais, France
Size: 8.3 × 6.5 × 3.6 cm
This is a very interesting and rare specimen for calcite collectors: A shell of a not formally identified echinoderm (but definitely a sea urchin) hosts parallel grown clear colourless / greyish calcite crystals aligned on the biologically given structure of the fossil.
