Hi there! I’m about to start my first year of university studying Archaeology. Just...

So the one thing I suggest is getting involved. Which is not always as easy. But the biggest thing if you want to get a job in this field in the future is it is a “Not what you know, but who you know” field to start off in. Best thing you can do is connect with your professors, clubs, if you can volunteer for a museum or go to a field school.
Not only will you make friendships but it will help you get out in the field while in school and gaining experience.
I am pushing off my graduation to do another field school.

When it comes to courses in general, don’t over stress about them. There can be so much lingo, and vocabulary that will come with time. So don’t beat yourself up if it is not clicking right away. (The amount of vocab for just lithics and geology within Lithic analysis can be overwhelming)
And explore those archaeology classes. I am not sure what school you are attending, however, there can be courses that will focus on different areas in archaeology itself. (Bioarchaeology, Dental, Underwater Archaeology) It can really help you narrow down an area if you want.
